bhupesh baghel: Chhattisgarh to buy cow urine, says chief minister Bhupesh Baghel | Raipur News

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government will soon buy cow urine from cattle rearers, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Thursday.
During the ongoing ‘Meet & Greet’ mammoth public contact programme in north Chhattisgarh, the chief minister said that the cow urine, procured by the state government, would be refined and used for manufacturing medicines. He said this would be the first scheme of its kind in the country which would directly benefit the rural population, including women, and increase their income while the move will also lead to better cow protection.
Chhattisgarh was the first state in the country to launch a unique ‘Gaudhan Nyay Yojana’ on June 25, 2020 for procurement of cow dung. The state is now procuring cow dung from the cattle rearers at Rs 2 per kilogram. Cow dung, thus procured, is being used to prepare vermicompost for organic farming.
After Chhattisgarh started this scheme, Uttar Pradesh also indicated that it would start a scheme to procure cow dung to deal with the major problem of stray cattle menace in that state.
