National Commission for Women demands action against former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken a suo motto cognizance of a Twitter post made by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Nupur Sharma and directed Uttar Pradesh DGP DGP to initiate action.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in a recent tweet has made a remark against Nupur Sharma.
In a Hindi tweet, he has stated that “only by speech but with heart she (Nupur Sharma) should apologise. She should be punished for vitiating peace and harmony”.

NCW termed the tweet as instigating a feeling of hatred and ill will against Nupur Sharma. The NCW also called the tweet as inciting communal disharmony between the two religious groups. NCW also stated that the comments made by Akhilesh Yadav involve crime under the charges of criminal intimidation, word gesture intended to insult modesty of woman, and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.
Hence, NCW directed the Uttar Pradesh DGP DS Chauhan to take immediate action against former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and apprise the commission about the action taken within three days.
