Elon Musk has officially confirmed that he is taking over the microblogging platform Twitter in an approximately $44 billion deal. The world’s richest person expressed his interest in buying the platform several times in the past few years. Known for his work in the field of electric vehicles and space travel, Musk is a serial entrepreneur and is the founder and chief executive officer of several other firms. Founded by Elon Musk in 2003, Tesla is the world’s most valuable automotive company. Based in Texas, the company manufactures electric vehicles, solar panels, solar roof tiles and several other clean energy related products.26


SpaceX designs, manufactures a few of the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk to with an aim revolutionise space transportation and to make life multiplanetary. SpaceX has gained worldwide attention for a series of historic milestones. The company also offers satellite internet services under the Starlink brand.36


Co-founded by Elon Musk in 2016, Neuralink Corporation is a neurotechnology company that creates implantable brain–machine interfaces. The company aims to build devices that will help people with paralysis and invent new technologies that will expand our abilities.46

The Boring Company

The Boring Company is an infrastructure and tunnel construction services company founded by Elon Musk. The company believes that a large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew. The Boring Company’s goal is to increase tunnelling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more.56


Open AI is a not-for-profit artificial intelligence research and deployment company that aims to develop general-purpose AI tools that can benefit humanity. Musk left the OpenAI board in 2018 to avoid possible future conflicts with his role as CEO of Tesla.66


Twitter is the latest acquisition of billionaire Elon Musk. Founded in 2006, the microblogging site has millions of users across the globe. The platform has previously received acquisition offers from various tech giants including Facebook. With the takeover, Musk aims to make Twitter a platform for free speech.
