War of words between Rahul, BJP over ‘bulldozers of hate’

NEW DELHI: With BJP governments making a political statement with the use of “bulldozers” after communal tensions, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi called the demolition drives a state-sponsored move targeting minorities and the poor. The remark came after the demolition carried out in Jahangirpuri in the national capital. Meanwhile, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the nation on growing communal clashes and to condemn the violence.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “This is a demolition of India’s constitutional values. This is state-sponsored targeting of poor and minorities. BJP must bulldoze the hatred in their hearts instead.” Also, tweeting about the reported coal crisis in the country, he addressed Modi to say, “Switch off the bulldozers of hate and switch on the power plants.”
As reported by TOI, Congress leaders Tuesday discussed growing communal tensions in the country during their consultations on future party strategy. Speaking to reporters, Gehlot said PM Narendra Modi’s silence on communal tensions encourages the rioters, and he should condemn them unequivocally.
